Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work Course in Hertfordshire

 

1stAiders provide the new Emergency First Aid at Work course, the EFAW course complies with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981. It is a Level 2 Award with a credit value of 1 under the Qualification Credit Framework (QCF).

The Level 2 Award for Emergency First Aid at work satisfies the requirements of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

The EFAW is a one full day course in Hertfordshire and includes theory as well as practical events. It is designed to boost the candidate’s confidence and ability in deaingl with emergency first aid situations.

The EFAW course covers the roles and responsibilities of the Emergency First Aider at work, and includes assessing an incident, recognising signs and symptoms of injury and illness, and assisting a casualty who is suffering from injury and illness.

The syllabus includes:-

  • First Aid Priorities
  • Managing Incidents
  • Basic Life Support
  • Examination of a Casualty
  • Unconsciousness
  • Control of Bleeding
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Regulations
  • First Aid Kits
  • Recording and Reporting

Students will learn and be assessed on their practical ability to deal with casualties who have stopped breathing, are unconscious, are bleeding and suffering from shock. There is no final exam as assessment is ongoing but candidates will be expected to participate in the practical exercises on the floor, as in a real-life situation, otherwise a certificate will not be issued  (a certificate of attendance will be issued).
